We thank you for your confirmation to attend the IACS Conference 2019 on August 1-3, 2019, at Silliman University with the theme “Fluid Circuits: Cultures of Knowledge After the Digital Turn.” The IACS Network is now over two decades and this is the first time the conference has come to South-East Asia, after Singapore 2013 and Surabaya 2015. It is one of the leading and largest gatherings of professionals and independent scholars in the field of humanities in the entire Asia. At least 250 independent scholars and educators representing over 23 countries from all over the world will be coming.

Guidelines for Presenters
1. Program

2. Arrival and Registration Details
a. Please check iacs2019.weebly.com/travel1 on how to reach Dumaguete City from the airport, transportation fees and
alternatives, how to go to Silliman University and how to find the venue on campus.
b. The university has many gates, make sure to pass Langheim Gate (also known as Katipunan Gate by tricycle drivers).

c. Upon entering the gate, please submit yourself for inspection. All bags and vehicles of any person entering the campus
will be checked. Please bring your school/office identification card or passport upon entering the campus.
d. The registration on day 1 will start at 8:00 am located at the SU Gymnasium. Please click this link for information on

e. Present your online receipt/bank receipt to the committee upon registration. You may be asked for a student ID /
proof of membership for verification. Once confirmed, Tier #1, #2 and #4 participants will be given a conference
kit with a copy of program, pad, ball pen and ID; Tier #3 and #5 will get a printed copy of the program and ID.
f. Once registered, please wear your conference ID at all times or use it to show the guard upon entry to the campus on
Day 2 and 3 of the conference. No ID, no entry.
g. You will also be presenting the same ID for the AM/PM snacks at deligated locations for the snacks during the parallel
sessions.
3. Presenters for Pre-constituted Panel and Roundtable Discussion
a. Each panel/roundtable discussion is allotted 90 minutes for presentation, discussion, and questioning. Be on time.
Strictly no extension of time.
b. Assign a moderator among yourselves and moderate the entire session.
c. A standby desktop will be provided on each session installed with a Windows OS. If you opt to use your laptop, bring
your adopter and other peripherals.
d. A member of the organizing committee will act as your facilitator and will guide you on your time and giving of
certificates.
e. Don’t leave after your presentation. All the certificate of presentation will be distributed only at the end of the session.
4. Individual Paper Presenters
a. Prepare a slide presentation that is enough for 20 minutes including your introduction. Save your file in any USB flash
drive.
b. Before the start of your session, approach the assigned moderator and give him/her your file. Your file will be saved
in the standby desktop. A standby laptop will be provided on each session installed with a Windows OS.
c. If you opt to use your own laptop, bring your own adopter and other peripherals.
d. You are only given 20 minutes to present and 5 minutes QandA. Strictly no time extensions.
e. The moderator to guide you of your remaining time will raise warning signage of “2 minutes more ”and“ time is up.
f. Don’t leave after your presentation. All the certificate of presentation will be distributed only at the end of the session.
5. Meals
AM-PM snacks, lunch and dinner (August 1), AM-PM snacks and lunch (August 2) and AM-PM snacks, lunch and dinner
(August 3) will be provided. A typical Asian cuisine will be prepared for lunch and dinner. For those who notified us with
their diet restriction, please approach any the catering personnel or the secretariat table.
6. Photo Documentation
Our staff will be taking (informed or candid) photos for documentation. All photos will be filtered and will be uploaded at
the conference website. Please approach our staff if you don’t like to be included in the photo documentation.

3. Please check the attendance of the authors/presenters, and consider asking information for a very brief introduction
before their presentation.
4. Collect all slide presentations and save them in the assigned laptop/computer. A standby desktop/laptop is provided
on each room installed with a Windows OS. If the presenter opts to use their personal devices, please advise them to
check the functionality first before their presentation.
During the Conference Session
1. Introduce yourself briefly and explain the time duration for each presentation. Each presenter is given 20 minutes for
the presentation.
2. Introduce the research paper (title, authors, and the presenter/s, school, country) briefly.
3. Act as a timer on each research presentation. Stick to the time allotted.
4. Signage of “2 minutes more” and “time is up” are provided to warn the presenters.
5. Moderate/facilitate each question appropriately. Questions will be entertained at the end of each presentation or at
the end of all presentations.
6. Give the certificates to all paper presenters at the end of your assigned session.
7. Close your session by thanking the participants for attending your session.
After the Conference Session:
1. Return all unclaimed certificates to the secretariat table.
2. Kindly indicate if the presenters are no-show.
